James Fletcher Marquees Supplying Marquees For Another Year To BUAS!

The Border Union Society at Springwood Park in Kelso have just confirmed their three annual events for 2015, the Schools County Side Day, the Border Union Show and the Cydectin Kelso Ram Sales.

Schools Country Side Day is a rural education day for pupils across the Scottish Borders. This will be the third year that this event has taken place with the marquees supplied by James Fletcher. This event was inaugurated to celebrate the 100th Anniversary of the Border Union Show in 2013 and has proved to be popular with both pupils and teachers. In 2014, 1200 children from over 60 schools learned about food, farming and the countryside, from seed germination to how to make sausages and haggis.

The Border Union Show is the highlight of the year for the farming community and locals in Kelso. There are classes for horses, cattle, and all other types of livestock. There are around 200 trade stands including farm machinery and gifts, crafts, clothing and equestrian goods, Flavours of the Borders' Food Fair and children's funfair. The Show takes place on the last Friday and Saturday of July each year. Springwood Park is set in 46 acres of parkland on the outskirts of Kelso adjacent to the world famous junction pool of the rivers Tweed and Teviot.

Cydectin Ram Sales takes place in September and is considered to be the largest signal day Ram Sales in the world. In 1851 652 rams were offered, by 1993 the £2m barrier was broken when 6000 tups changed hands. The rams are exported to three EEC countries, Holland, Germany and Eire

James Fletcher has been supplying the marquees for this event since the mid 1990's. The tensioned marquees are 80' wide and up to 320' long.
